PorPow

In case of natural disasters/emergencies, power grid failure is a common issue. As a result, recharging cellphones and other communication devices becomes difficult.
This device comes handy as a rechargeable power source which also doubles up as a torch to assist in navigation. The standard power cables are inbuilt and non-detachable, within the device. Hence, there is no need to hunt for the misplaced power cords as well. It works on the principle of a dynamo. Rotating the rear handle, would charge the inbuilt battery. The power stored in the battery can be used to power the device itself and charge other devices.
With the flick of a button, the torch starts blinking red, as a signal flare to assist in search & rescue operations, also assisted by an audio siren for quick recognition. Hence, rescuers can easily spot people stranded in a large area.
There are similar products available in the market, however, they are not optimized to be used during emergencies. This concept is a slight modification of the existing technology.

Also, it facilitates direct charging of the device, rather than charging the Porpow first. So, it can also depend on the current generation capacity of the dynamo itself. All these specifications can be finalized as part of further research and testing.

Hi Prasanna, This is just an idea as of now. But looking at the current form factor of power banks available in the market, this should be able to accommodate a battery of almost 4000-5000 mAH, which should be enough to fully charge at least 2 smartphones or 4-5 budget phones. Again, how long will it take to charge it, might depend on the capacity of the battery, whether its manual charging or from the power plug.

Hi Lalit, How long does the battery last and how much power can it produce? How long does it take to recharge the unit?
