Creative Living
This proposal hopes to create employment to our vulnerable youth. We target ITVET graduates and reinserted ex-inmates youths. These youth are likely to be stigmatized or profiled due to lacking in experience or having a record. Creative Living is a furniture shop start up. We hope to expand our business with this challenge and open a shop with furniture ready for purchase, this in order to increase our customer reach. Expansion in production will also increase our number of employees, this will open employment opportunity to our youths and also the opportunity for them to find their purpose.

- According to central YMCA, lack of employment opportunity is the principal challenge that youths are facing today. Failure to succeed in a traditional education system, substance abuse, and crime are also among the top 10 challenges youths face. Unemployment is a contributing factor that foments youth's involvement in criminal activity at a younger age and deprives them from developing their talents and finding their purpose. While many may choose to turn a blind eye to the problem, we must be more proactive and find creative and innovative solutions that will allow our youths to grow up into successful and contributing citizens. "Change Dah Story" is a social innovation challenge that does just that. Creative Living is a small carpentry shop that delivers quality home furniture and decor. Our service is dependable and our designs are unique and modern. Creative Living hopes to provide employment and the opportunity for our most vulnerable and stigmatized youths to find them selves through carpentry. This opportunity will simultaneously support them and their families. As our business grows so does our need for a skilled labor forced. According to the World Bank (2018), the youth unemployment rate in Belize is 19.82%. Reinserted (from prison) youths and ITVET graduates are among our primary targeted labor force. With this proposal we hope to contribute in reducing our youth unemployment rate. These represent the highest percentage of vulnerable youths who are skilled in carpentry and who will undoubtedly face challenges in securing employment. Creative living will motivate our employees to find involvement in social initiatives that will help build their morale and will allow them to give back to society through community service and community activities.

- This proposal offers employment opportunity to society's most vulnerable youths. Its offers them the opportunity of developing their skills and talents through carpentry. It also offers them a space where they can be socially active and a family in times of need. The initiative is sustained through sales of our furniture products.

- ITVET graduates or youths reintroduced from prison are our targeted labor force. These are youths who are actively seeking employment and who are likely to be stigmatized or profiled due to lacking experience or having a record. These youths will be recruited to work at Creative Living. They will be socially mentored and stimulated to become successful citizens. Community service is an integral part of our employees and business mission. Expats and local Belizeans who are looking for affordable, durable and modern furniture will benefit from our products.
