- Describe la necesidad o problema que deseas abordar
- The tropical rainforests biomes throughout the tiny nation of Belize generate a large portion of the Earth's oxygen, water aquifers, and biodiversity including flora used to develop new pharmaceutical breakthroughs and fauna including insects, reptiles, mammals, birds, etc. Limited financial and technical resources administered by the Government of Belize (GOB) and subsequent inadequacies in staffing, transportation, equipment, and professional capacity make government-managed conservation and protected area security efforts an impossible challenge without the mobilization of local communities and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
- ¿Cuál es el principal producto o servicio que ofrecerás?
- The KIYOCAYO COMPASS Initiative is designed to advance nature exploration and conservation of threatened biodiversity such as the Yucatán Black Howler Monkey, Scarlet Macaw, Green Iguana, Jaguar etc., via implementation of an ever-evolving conservancy that services vital A1(a) Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) situated near the Cayo District Belize (CDB) / Petén Department Guatemala (PDG) border. KIYOCAYO COMPASS also utilizes efficient military-style rapid deployment strategies that employ scalable modular shelter units and off-grid technologies to support and maintain a network of sustainable compass centers and deployable satellite compass campgrounds. KIYOCAYO COMPASS Center also offers iC3 award-winning nature exploration and conservancy programs, capacity building workshops, retreats and special events that raise international awareness about our nature exploration and conservation operations throughout Belize and the Centro-America/CARICOM region.
- Describe brevemente la comunidad o población que se beneficiará de tu solución y de cómo planeas involucrarlos en el proyecto
- KIYOCAYO COMPASS Center is designed to directly benefit underserved indigenous traditional communities that occupy the rural border villages of CDB/PDG; the projects initial 4-year deployment is projected to proliferate new emerging opportunities (NEOs) in environmental science and security for students, academic researchers, ranger recruits and ecotourists from all backgrounds. The initiatives 2020-2023 pilot programs and core operations are projected to serve 450 beneficiaries directly and 2700 indirectly.
- ¿Tiene tu propuesta un modelo de negocio (es decir, una estrategia para generar ingresos)? Por favor describe
- Sustainability is built into the KIYOCAYO COMPASS organizational structure, in part through the “integration” of resources. More services will be provided, to address future needs and there will be less duplication of efforts. KIYOCAYO COMPASS Center utilizes Social Enterprise Modeling to create self-sustaining Social Enterprise Modules (SEMs) that charge fees for goods and services while diversifying the financial support for future projects and initiatives. TRIBZ.ECO has also secured the services of a fundraising consultant who is working with our board of directors to develop and implement a strategic fundraising plan that will incorporate an expanded annual giving program. This will allow us to expand our individual donor base to complement TRIBZ.ECO’s successful fundraising endeavors and help ensure the initiative’s financial future. Effective fundraising strategies will continually be examined to ensure continuity.
